Who We Write

Structured cabling and data installers, AV integrators, network and telecom cabling contractors, and home-theater / smart-home installers.

The Coverage Stack You’ll Want

  • General Liability — $1M/$2M standard, structured with the additional-insured endorsements your accounts require.
  • Workers Comp — required for any NJ employee, including most officers.
  • Commercial Auto — service vehicles and employee drivers.
  • Tools & Equipment — your tools wherever they live, plus installation floater where you install customer materials.
  • Commercial Umbrella — extra limits over GL, Auto, and EL.

Carrier Notes

Low-voltage is genuinely low-hazard and places easily across the standard panel — Travelers, Nationwide, The Hartford, AmTrust, Next. The single most important thing is getting the class code right: low-voltage should never be rated as line-voltage electrical.

NJ-Specific Considerations

  • Class code is everything — low-voltage / data work carries a materially lower rate than line-voltage electrical. If you do both, split-class so the low-voltage payroll isn’t over-rated.
  • Cross-trade with electrical — if you also do line-voltage work, see our electricians page; we structure the combined operation.
  • AV and smart-home — equipment-handling and installation floater for customer-supplied gear.
  • Data/network work — generally lowest-hazard; some carriers favor it as low-frequency.
Low-Voltage & Structured Cabling Questions

Common questions.

Is low-voltage separate from electrical for insurance?
Yes — different class code, often materially lower-hazard than line-voltage electrical. We split-class accordingly so you’re not overpaying.
I do both low-voltage and some line-voltage — how does that work?
We split your payroll across the correct class codes so each part is rated right. See the electricians page for the line-voltage side.
AV and smart-home installs — covered the same way?
Yes, with installation floater added for customer-supplied equipment you handle and install.
What does a small low-voltage operation cost?
Among the more affordable specialty programs given the low hazard. We quote your actual numbers at intake.
