Who We Write

Burglar and fire alarm installers, security camera / CCTV integrators, access-control contractors, and central-station monitoring operations.

The Coverage Stack You’ll Want

  • General Liability — $1M/$2M standard, structured with the additional-insured endorsements your accounts require.
  • Workers Comp — required for any NJ employee, including most officers.
  • Commercial Auto — service vehicles and employee drivers.
  • Tools & Equipment — your tools wherever they live, plus installation floater where you install customer materials.
  • Commercial Umbrella — extra limits over GL, Auto, and EL.
  • Cyber / data-privacy coverage — for contractors handling customer access credentials, footage, and monitoring data. Often a standalone or endorsed line.

Carrier Notes

The physical install work is low-hazard and fits standard markets — Travelers, Nationwide, The Hartford, AmTrust, Next. The exposures that need attention are contractual (false-alarm and failure-to-perform) and data privacy, which route to specialty endorsements or standalone cyber.

NJ-Specific Considerations

  • False-alarm and failure-to-perform liability — the contract language (limitation-of-liability clauses) matters as much as the policy. We review it at bind.
  • Data privacy — if you store footage, access credentials, or monitoring data, customer-data exposure is real; cyber coverage addresses it.
  • Low-voltage class codes — alarm/security wiring overlaps with low-voltage electrical; split-class correctly.
  • Monitoring operations — central-station monitoring adds an errors-and-omissions dimension beyond installation.
Alarm & Security Questions

Common questions.

Am I liable if an alarm fails to stop a burglary?
Your contract’s limitation-of-liability language is the first defense; coverage backstops it. We review both at bind so you’re not relying on one alone.
Do I need cyber coverage?
If you store customer footage, credentials, or monitoring data, strongly recommended. We can quote it standalone or endorsed.
Is this the same class as electrical?
Low-voltage security wiring overlaps with low-voltage electrical class codes. We split-class so you’re not paying line-voltage rates.
I run a monitoring center, not just installs — different program?
Yes — monitoring adds an E&O dimension. Tell us on the intake and we’ll structure for it.
