How fast can I get a quote?
For most coverage lines, within a business day once we have your information. Some lines — especially Workers Comp and harder GL placements — take longer because they require carrier underwriter review. The intake form takes 5–7 minutes to fill out for the full multi-line stack.
Can you quote all my lines at once?
Yes — that's the whole point of the program. One intake, one quote, every line. GL, Workers Comp, Commercial Auto, Tools, Umbrella, Builders Risk. You don't fill out the form six times.
Do you write small contractors?
Yes. Solo painters, one-truck plumbers, two-person electrical operations — all welcome. Our markets and our program handle the full range, from one-person shops to mid-sized established operations.
What if I have a few claims on my record?
Tell us straight on the intake. Loss history affects which carriers can quote you, but it doesn't disqualify you from the program. We have standard markets that tolerate moderate loss history and E&S markets for harder placements. We'll match you to the right one and explain the pricing impact.
I do some work in NYC — does that change anything?
A little. Incidental NY work is fine — we handle that as part of your normal policy structure. If you do meaningful work in the five boroughs of NYC, that's a different conversation. New York Labor Law creates exposure that gets priced and underwritten differently. The intake asks about it. We'll route you accordingly — and if you're effectively a NYC contractor, we'll tell you straight and refer you to a specialist who'll take better care of you than we will.
Do you handle COIs?
Yes — same-day issuance with the exact endorsements your GC requires. We also review your subs' certificates before they hit the job if you're a GC. See COI workflow.
What does my premium depend on?
By line: GL is rated on revenue, trade, claims, and territory. WC is rated on payroll, class codes, and ex-mod. Auto is rated on vehicles, drivers, garaging address, radius. Tools is rated on total value. Umbrella is rated on underlying limits and exposure. Builders Risk is rated on project value and type.
What if I want to move just one line to you, not the whole program?
Fine. We quote what you want quoted. Many contractors start with one line and add others at renewal. The multi-line credit becomes available once you have multiple lines with one carrier — that's an option for later.
Are you really independent?
Yes. We have access to Travelers, Nationwide, The Hartford, AmTrust, Allstate, Nat Gen, Cumberland Mutual, Farmers of Salem, Plymouth Rock, Preferred Mutual, Merchants Mutual, Geico, Foremost, and Next, plus E&S markets. We pick the carrier that fits your operation — not the carrier paying the highest commission.
How do claims work?
Claims go through the carrier. We facilitate — your advocate with the carrier, we help you document, we push back when the carrier is slow or unfair. See how we work claims.
Do you work with subs of GCs you insure?
Often. When we insure both the GC and the subs on a project, the compliance chain runs much smoother — additional insured language is consistent, gaps disappear, COIs turn around faster. We don't require it; many subs come to us through their GC's referral.
What about renewals?
We touch your renewal proactively 60–90 days out. Market check, mod analysis (for WC), contract review for any changes. We move you when moving makes sense — not when the commission elsewhere looks better.
What about HIC registration?
We confirm you have HIC registration with the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs at intake if you do residential improvement work. Carriers ask about it; underwriting requires it.
What’s Beyond Insurance?
A separate business operated by our founder, helping NJ contractors use AI to grow revenue. Not part of the insurance agency. Not tied to buying insurance from us. See Beyond Insurance.
What’s a typical contractor program cost?
Very dependent on trade, scale, and operations. A solo painter might run $2,500–$4,000/year total. A 15-employee commercial GC runs $40K–$120K+. We quote your actual numbers on the intake.
